On March 6, 2014, the workshop "Development prospects of the organic sector in Lviv region" took place in Lviv

The event was held within the VII Specialized Exhibition "AgroTekhnika 2014" in the exhibition center "Shuvar-Expo"

The purpose of the workshop was to discuss the status and prospects of development of organic production, processing and marketing in Lviv region.
During the speech, the acting director of the Department of agroindustrial  development of Lviv regional state administration Roman Vereschynskyi focused the participants’ attention on the events, organized by Lviv regional authorities in order to support the initiative of farms regarding organic farming. Currently, more than 12 enterprises in Lviv region are working in accordance with organic standards. That is why it was very important for the audience to hear the information about the possibilities and ways of governmental support for producers of organic products, particularly on the regional level.

Chairman of the board of the Organic federation of Ukraine Eugene Milovanov described the development status and prospects of the organic market in the world and in Ukraine. Participants showed interest in the features of organic farming, taking into consideration the recently adopted Law "On the production and circulation of organic agricultural products and raw materials" and also orientation to the European integration of Ukraine.

The questions of certification peculiarities, organic standards and marketing of organic production were introduced to participants by general manager of the certification body "Organic Standard" Sergiy Galashevskyy.

Experience of farming according to organic standards, practical aspects of entering the consumer market in Ukraine and Europe were shared by the director of "Galfrost" Anatolii Kliuchko and farmer Bogdan Kostiv.
The great interest of all those present was attracted by the report of the biodynamics expert practitioner Vasyl Chuba and head of Lviv organic farming club Tetiana Chuchko.
